Queen Elizabeth was ordered in 2007 as part of Cunard’s continued fleet modernization and built by Fincantieri at the Monfalcone Shipyard in Italy. The keel of Queen Elizabeth was laid in June 2007, launched in January 2010, and completed in October 2010. Queen Elizabeth was christened in Southampton on 11 October 2010 by Queen Elizabeth II and entered service the following day with her maiden voyage to the Canary Islands. Queen Elizabeth remains in service today, sailing worldwide itineraries alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Anne.
